We’re not just animal people. We’re people people. Rescue Village recognizes the contributions of time and talent that our valued volunteers make every day. We also plan special events throughout the year to celebrate our volunteers! Once a year, we hold our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night, an evening planned just for our volunteers, as well as participate in National Volunteer Appreciation Week with other organizations across the country. Know that your efforts will not go unrecognized. You are an essential part of our Rescue Village family.
Many of our volunteers find that their work is rewarded simply through seeing our animals adopted and placed in loving homes. Take a look at what some of our current volunteers have to say about their experiences:
“Volunteering for Rescue Village gives me a sense of community and hope for humanity I have never experienced with any other organization. It is not only the desire to give animals a second chance at their forever home but a deep caring for one another that makes my time at Rescue Village incredibly rewarding. The staff and volunteers are absolutely the best people I know!” – Pam Kerr
“I love my role as the RV Ad.vo.cat. I care about each cat, healthy, maimed, or hard-to-adopt, giving each a “voice”. I ‘listen” with compassion to the cats, and an intuitive connection leads me to an adopter. Consistently successful adoptions create joy for me and the adopters, while finding the right home for a cat–a win-win-win! Why do I love volunteering at RV? To quote the poet Wendell Berry, “For a time, I rest in the grace of the world and am free.” So much gratitude to RV for this work I love!” – Brenda Donahue
“Becoming a volunteer at Rescue Village, 10 years ago, is one of the best decisions I have made. Cage cleaning for cats, kittens and small critters is not a glamorous duty but definitely necessary. Working with and caring for these animals has truly enriched my life. Payment includes head butts, nudges, purrs and squeaks. These tender moments are what keep me coming back. They renew my spirit and remind me to enjoy the little things in life. Knowing that I can make a difference in the life of an animal until they can find their forever homes, means so much. I am proud to be a part of Rescue Village… a fabulous organization!” – Marcia White
