Independent Fundraising Event Ideas

Host an independent Fundraising Event Supporting Rescue Village

Hosting an independent fundraiser is a wonderful way to support the animals and programs of Rescue Village. An independent fundraiser is any fundraising activity brought forward by an individual, community group, service club, or business to raise money for Rescue Village through a planned activity that is designed, managed, and financially resourced by the external participant—you, the event sponsor.

Independent Fundraising Guidelines and Expectations

Thank you for thinking of Rescue Village as you plan your community based fundraiser. Such events are vital to the operations at Rescue Village, and they allow us to provide our services. We ask that you please review and agree to the following list of guidelines and expectations for independent fundraisers.

  • An independent fundraiser is one in which Rescue Village (RV) is a beneficiary of some or all of the proceeds from the event. The event is not planned or executed by RV and it is conceptualized and implemented by an external individual or group.
    • Attracting attendees/participants to the event is the responsibility of the external committee/group/individual.
    • General event volunteers must be supplied and coordinated externally.
  • The individuals planning the event are not required to specify how much (by percent or by a minimum dollar amount) they will raise; however by submitting a proposal form, the fundraising entity agrees to make a charitable donation to RV should funds be generated from the event.
  • RV is unable to sell items for charitable purposes.
  • RV cannot finance any expenses related to the independent fundraiser or assume responsibility for any debts incurred.
  • The expectation is that the group initiating the fundraiser is the primary promoter of the event.
  • RV will highlight the event on our webpage, in our scheduled e-blasts, and through social media if able and with proper notice.
  • Any use of the RV logo or inclusion of the RV name must be approved by the Special EventsCoordinator at least two weeks in advance. Any contact with press or other media must be coordinated with the RV Marketing Department.
  • RV shall be held harmless should any accidents or unforeseen circumstances occur during the fundraising event.
  • Any donations made to RV will support our overall operations. Funds cannot be designated, unless approved through the Special Events Coordinator ahead of time.
  • RV education and marketing materials should be visible at the event. You are responsible for coordinating a mutually agreed upon date/time with the Special Events Coordinator for pickup of such materials from the shelter.
  • RV requests that any available pictures from the event be sent to the Marketing and PR Coordinator for use on RV’s website/Facebook or other public and/or internal communication vehicles. RV will assume that any pictures received have been released with the permission of those photographed.
  • RV can provide thank you notes to individual donors who contributed to the fundraiser only if provided with addresses, full names, and amount donated by the individual.

After you have reviewed the above guidelines, please complete the Independent Fundraiser Proposal Form and email it to events@rescuevillage.org. Once the proposal form has been received, Rescue Village Staff will review your proposal and notify you of any questions/concerns.

Thank you again for your support of Rescue Village!
