Rescue Village is deeply saddened by the loss of friend, volunteer and former board member, Tyler Somershield. Ty was a volunteer dog-walker for 22 years, and served on the Rescue Village Board of Trustees for a term. He is pictured below with an adoptable dog at Woofstock, and receiving his 20-year volunteer service award.
Ty helped thousands of dogs during his years of service at Rescue Village, showing up every Saturday morning — a difficult shift to fill — to take dogs out for their first morning break and enriching their lives with extra pets and quality time. He also helped out at adoption events, showcasing the adoptable dogs and talking to the public about Rescue Village, but most of all, he just wanted to see the dogs get adopted and into loving homes — making those connections meant the world to Ty.
Ty’s dedication, kindness, sense of humor and friendship will be sorely missed and forever cherished.
