Berkshire Middle School Student Art for a Cause

Berkshire Middle School art students partnered with Rescue Village to host their Project-Based Learning Project, Art for a Cause. This art exhibit will be displayed at Rescue Village in the Community Room from Monday, November 4th, until Sunday, December 1st. Community members are invited to see this outstanding art by students during Rescue Village hours of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-4 pm and Wednesday and Thursday, 12-6:30 pm.

For this project, students were asked to combine their creativity with civic responsibility and positively impact their community. While students develop their artistic skills, they also cultivate a deeper understanding of the importance of community involvement and compassion for animals. Students created propaganda-style pet portraits to promote Rescue Village’s mission, encouraging community members to adopt, donate, or volunteer! Each animal portrait captures Rescue Village animals’ unique personalities and stories, aiming to persuade viewers to take action and support Rescue Village.

The art exhibit kicked off at Rescue Village’s Annual Donor Appreciation Open House on Saturday, November 2nd. New and longtime supporters enjoyed the colorful display. The student art brought smiles to everyone’s faces as they pointed out their favorite Rescue Village animals and long-term residents. During the event, ten animals were adopted at the shelter, including many long-term residents, like Tommy.

Rescue Village attended an assembly at Berkshire Middle School on Monday, November 18th to educate students about what Rescue Village is all about and why its work is so important to the community. Students were informed about ways they could get involved, and how to be advocates for the animals. They also got to meet a couple of Rescue Village Ambassador dogs (Mazey and Skye) and received Rescue Village stickers and Woofstock bandanas. If you are interested in Rescue Village coming to your organization or partnering to promote humane education, please visit Host a Community Event – Rescue Village.

The assembly presentation was a great success, reaching hundreds of middle school students committed to civic responsibility in their community. Students left excited to attend Woofstock and visit Rescue Village in the future. As a special thank you to the art class, Rescue Village donated copies of The Cartoons of Rescue Village to 50 art students that showcased adoptable animals at RV.

Rescue Village strives to engage the community, schools, scouts, congregations, businesses, and groups in various ways to educate and increase awareness about the important work its been doing since 1974 to help save abused, abandoned and neglected animals — along with the programs and services it provides, such as low-cost spay/neuter and the pet food pantry.
