Happy at Home

Marcel’s journey to Rescue Village began when a compassionate community member trapped two cats at a feral cat feeding station this past March. After facing challenges in finding a shelter that could take them in, they reached out to us in hopes of finding a loving home for a very social community cat who, sadly, appeared to be blind.

At Rescue Village, we are deeply committed to helping community cats through our Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) Program. Every Tuesday, individuals from across Northeastern Ohio bring trapped feral cats to us for the essential medical care they desperately need. Our goal is to combat the overpopulation of unspayed and unneutered cats in our region. In heartwarming cases like Marcel’s, where a cat shows affection for people, we don’t return them to the streets; instead, we work to find them a nurturing home.

When Marcel arrived, it was obvious that he needed extra medical attention. Our dedicated veterinary team quickly set to work treating him for an upper respiratory infection and managing the secondary entropion causing his right eyelid to roll inward. This condition affected his vision, leaving him nearly blind. After a week of careful treatment, we were relieved to proceed with his neuter surgery and a necessary tooth extraction.

After recovering from surgery, Marcel was placed in foster care, where he could heal in a loving environment. His foster family adored him and shared stories of his playful spirit! Over the span of two weeks, he rested and recuperated, slowly regaining strength after a month filled with challenges at the shelter.

When he was finally ready for adoption, Marcel moved into the Cat Pavilion and embraced his new surroundings. He delighted in playing with his toys and greeting visitors, quickly capturing the hearts of everyone who stopped by.

After spending three weeks on the adoption floor, the perfect family came along and instantly fell in love with Marcel. His new family joyfully shared that he has bonded with them beautifully, expressing his affection through playful vocalizations when he wants pets and cuddles. He is never far from their side and is even finding friendship with his new feline sibling.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Rescue Village’s veterinary team and the impact of our TNR Program, Marcel is embarking on a fresh adventure as a cherished indoor cat, and he is truly enjoying every moment of his new life.
