Rescue Village hosted their annual Volunteer & Staff Appreciation event on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
It was the first time Rescue Village recognized both staff and volunteers together to celebrate the full scope of teamwork and collaboration that happens every day at the shelter.
“Over 250 volunteers serve in a variety of positions at Rescue Village — such as foster care, customer service, events, field trips and cage cleaners — and we have 30 employees,” said Ken Clarke, Executive Director. “Bringing both staff and volunteers together to acknowledge the work as a collective was incredibly special. It truly highlighted the camaraderie and dedication of everyone that is involved in supporting Rescue Village’s work.”
Rescue Village honored the staff and volunteers with years of service awards. Staff member and veterinary technician, Grace Blamble, received her 20th year service award, while 12 other staff members received their 5, 10 and 15 years of service awards. 26 volunteers were recognized for their years of service, and the 2023 Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Pam Anderson, a Welcome Desk and TNR volunteer that has been with Rescue Village for more than 11 years.
Other volunteer awards included Rookies of the Year, Natalie George, and Frank Locurto; Fosters of the Year, Monica Kelson, Kay Carlson, and Rick Albaugh; Shelter Volunteer of the Year, Michele Sobecks; Event Volunteer of the Year, Jeff Wilson; and Jenny Campbell received the RV Champion award.
Rescue Village is looking forward to another successful year of teamwork in 2024!
