A Roof for Roger Rabbit

Roger, a 4 year-old Holland Lop rabbit, came to Rescue Village after his owner developed an allergic reaction and could no longer keep him.

During Roger’s routine exam when he arrived in January 2024, the medical staff discovered that he had fur and ear mites. It was also determined that he would need surgery to correct Entropian. Entropion is when the eyelid margin rolls in towards the eye, which causes the fur on the eyelid to rub on the cornea. This can be very painful for the animal, and can also cause ulcerations. If left untreated, it can cause cornea damage and loss of vision.

Entropion surgery was scheduled once Roger was cleared of the ear and fur mites. Shortly after his surgery, he was placed in a volunteer foster home, where he could receive consistent care and enrichment during his recovery.

When Roger returned to Rescue Village in late February, he received a clean bill of health from the medical staff and was neutered. He was finally ready for adoption!

It didn’t take long for Roger to get adopted. Like every pet requires, his new family promised to take him to the vet at least once a year. Roger, now Oscar, is in a new home surrounded by people and pets alike. He spends his time listening to stories with his human siblings, exploring outside with his canine friend, and getting lots of cuddles and love from the entire family.

“We are just so thankful every day that he ended up in our family,” said the adopter. “We have told so many people about Rescue Village and the great lengths that you all went to before he was adopted.”
