While kittens and puppies need Rescue Village’s support, they are not the only ones who need rescuing.
Cupcake- who is as sweet as her name- arrived at Rescue Village just weeks after Woofstock 2023. She came to Rescue Village as an owner surrender after being found outside as a stray. Cupcake’s owner was concerned about her health. Like many owners she faced barriers to providing the necessary medical care. This is where Rescue Village comes to the rescue to provide relief to these surrendered animals from unnecessary pain or suffering.
Once on-site, Rescue Village Veterinary Staff examined Cupcake. It was found that she had parasites, a suspected viral infection, and a lesion on her face. Our expert medical team diagnosed her with eosinophilic granuloma, a chronic inflammation in the mouth and skin that needs lifelong monitoring.
Over 50% of Rescue Village’s animals go to Foster homes at least once during their stay. Thanks to the hard work of Rescue Village Foster Volunteers, many medical cases, like Cupcake can be monitored more closely than typically possible in the shelter environment.
Cupcake returned from Foster after two months of recovery, and was finally ready for adoption in December. Not even a month later Cupcake was adopted and now has her own sweet spot to call home.
Thanks to the support of the community, Rescue Village was able to meet her challenging medical needs and provide the space and time for her to find a loving spot, just like many residents who find shelter at Rescue Village yearly.
