Rescuing Roscoe

Meet Roscoe, a Pitbull mix who was just surrendered by his owner to Rescue Village. 60% of all the animals who temporarily call Rescue Village home are either surrendered by their owners or come to RV as strays.

Roscoe’s owner suffered a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital by EMS on Sunday, March 3rd, and Rescue Village was asked to do a welfare check on this friendly pup who was home all alone.

After talking to the Geauga County Sheriff, Humane Officers conducted the welfare check, made contact with a family member, and found neighbors willing to help look after the dog while his owner recovered. Roscoe was never intentionally abandoned by his owner, but instead just needed some help.

Rescue Village believes that all homeless dogs, cats, small critters, and domesticated barn animals deserve the chance to be adopted by a new family, be they a Pitbull or a Pot-bellied pig.

Roscoe’s owner ultimately decided he needed to surrender his dog to Rescue Village, and we will do everything that Roscoe needs to get him ready for adoption, including veterinary care and lots of love and enrichment by the staff and volunteers.

On March 17, 2024 Roscoe had his TV debut on WKYC 3 Cleveland with anchor Danielle Wiggins and Ken Clarke, RV’s CEO on WKYC’s Pet of the Week Segment. Roscoe was such a good boy and really showed off his gentle laidback attitude. He’s been through so much since early March. All he needs now is a new family. Watch the WKYC TV news segment here.
