How to Get Involved

More than 200 volunteers dedicate their time and talents to Rescue Village every year. From helping with laundry and dishes, to attending outreach events, there are many ways to get involved as a volunteer at Rescue Village!

Below you will find the current Rescue Village volunteer openings for ages 16 and up.

Foster Volunteers

Fill The Void Until Our Animals Find A Home

We are always looking for local families who are willing to take in an animal in need while he or she waits to be placed in a permanent home. Our foster volunteers welcome a shelter animal into their home on a temporary basis and provide the care the animal needs to mature, heal, socialize or otherwise prepare for adoption into a permanent home.

If you are interested in fostering for Rescue Village, we ask you to learn more about the process by reaching out to Rescue Village’s Human & Animal Services Manager via e-mail at kzlangford@rescuevillage.org.

Housekeeping

Help us keep the shelter clean!

As you can imagine, taking care of up to 140 animals in our care at any given time means that we are doing laundry and dishes all day long! Volunteers are needed to help us maintain a clean and organized shelter and to help sort and organize the donations of bedding and supplies we receive daily. If you are interested in helping, please contact volunteer@rescuevillage.org.

Ambassador Dogs

Trained Therapy Dogs for Outreach

Rescue Village Ambassador dogs are dogs that have gone through special training to become a certified therapy dog. Ambassador dogs (and their human owner/handler) are utilized for educational programming at Rescue Village, and also at community outreach events, senior living homes and schools.

Ambassador dogs help a child learn how to properly meet a dog, and for the wee little ones who have never met a dog before, Ambassador dogs make that first meeting a memorable and positive experience!

Think you might have a pup that would be a great Ambassador for Rescue Village?  Contact volunteer@rescuevillage.org to learn more.

Community Outreach Volunteer

we need help with people too

Rescue Village participates in a variety of community events to raise awareness for homeless animals and to promote our programs and services for animals and their people. Personable and friendly volunteers are needed to help us attend these events!  From walking in a parade to setting up a table, volunteers assist with spreading the word that Rescue Village is here to help and is the best place to find your new furry family member.

This volunteer position is mainly required during the spring and summer months. If you are interested in helping or learning more, e-mail events@rescuevillage.org.

Become a Woofstock Volunteer

Become a rock star at one of our biggest events

We are looking for volunteers to assist with vendors, outreach, distribution, registration and fundraising at Woofstock, one of our largest fundraising events. This event is one of the biggest outdoor Northeast Ohio fundraising events for dogs and their people and is critical to supporting the mission of Rescue Village. Kids ages 12 and under are welcome to volunteer at Woofstock with an adult. Kids ages 13-17 can volunteer with a parent’s signed waiver. For more information on volunteering for Woofstock, visit www.woofstock.fun.

Student Service Projects

Many students reach out to Rescue Village to fulfill their volunteer service hours.  While we appreciate that students want to devote their time to Rescue Village, we are often unable to accommodate them onsite due to the large number of local students that contact us.

We have compiled many ideas for student service projects that can be done at home in support of Rescue Village.  Student service hour forms needing a signature must be presented to the Welcome Desk when the project is being delivered to Rescue Village. Delivery of student service projects can be made any time during open hours. For questions, contact info@rescuevillage.org.
