We've Got Just The Job For You

There are many ways to volunteer at Rescue Village! Please explore the opportunities below and contact Pam Pray, our Volunteer Assistant, at 440.338.4819 extension 49 to learn of our greatest need for volunteers at the moment as well as additional opportunities not listed here.

Welcome Desk Volunteers

Be the first person an adopter meets!

Welcome Desk Volunteers are crucial to the work Rescue Village does. They are the first people an adopter sees and help to get the process started. They help our staff answer and return phone calls from the public, receive donations, and point adopters in the right direction. If you love people and animals and enjoy giving out useful information, then this job is for you!

Foster Volunteers

Fill The Void Until Our Animals Find A Home

We are always looking for local families who are willing to take in an animal in need while he or she waits to be placed in a permanent home. Our foster volunteers welcome a shelter animal into their home on a temporary basis and provide the care the animal needs to mature, heal, socialize or otherwise prepare for adoption into a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering for Rescue Village, we ask you to learn more about the process and speak to our Programs Coordinator at shelterprograms@rescuevillage.org.

Reading Program Volunteers

Dog Tales and Cat Tales

The Rescue Village Reading Program was designed for kids ages 6+ to help our shelter animals become more adoptable and bring comfort to the animals. It reduces the anxiety of the animals, nurtures empathy in children and is a great way for kids to practice their reading skills with a captive listener!

One parent is required to attend the training and must accompany the child every time they come to read. Closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes are required to protect your feet and give better traction when walking through animal areas. New readers will attend one 60 minute orientation and tour. During the orientation they will learn the ins and outs of the shelter and be given a schedule of available reading hours.

Please note that preregistration is required and there is limited space available. There is a $5 fee for the program to help defray the cost of the program. Kids will receive reading incentives and a Rescue Village Reading Program T-shirt.

We ask all interested volunteers to complete the registration form below, as well as contact Rescue Village to schedule a training session by calling 440.338.4819 ext. 49 or e-mailing readingprogram@rescuevillage.org.

Student Service Projects

Many students reach out to Rescue Village to fulfill their volunteer service hours.  While we appreciate that students want to devote their time to Rescue Village, we are often unable to accommodate them onsite due to the large number of local students that contact us. We have instead compiled many ideas for student service projects that can be done offsite in support of Rescue Village.

This year-round program has an annual membership fee of $180, which helps cover the cost of T-shirts, supplies, and staffing. This program does not require parental involvement or accompaniment to Rescue Village. Special Events Volunteer

we need help with people too

Rescue Village holds major fundraising events each year. The professionalism of these events and their fundraising success comes from volunteer committees who devote hundreds of hours, raising over $305,000 for the animals every year. As an event committee volunteer, you can help in many different ways, from planning logistics to securing auction items and much more.

Volunteers also participate in a variety of other ways for our events such as staffing information tables at fairs and public events, walking in parades, assisting with outreach programs and numerous other activities throughout the year. Some of these volunteer positions require knowledge of Rescue Village, its mission and its programs. To become a Special Events volunteer, send an e-mail to volunteer@rescuevillage.org.

Become a Woofstock Volunteer

Become a rock star at one of our biggest events
