CatsMart TNR

Spay & Neuter Program

CatsMart TNR

Trap, Neuter, Return

To help manage the free-roaming community cat population in Northeast Ohio, Rescue Village endorses a method known as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR is very effective because it addresses the overpopulation of cats where it starts—uncontrolled reproduction. Through the TNR program, cats are humanely trapped and brought to Rescue Village where they are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given a general medical exam. They are also eartipped (a quarter of an inch is removed from the tip of the left ear) which is the universal sign that a cat has been spayed or neutered and vaccinated.  The cats are then returned to live their lives in a managed colony. The cats that have been through the TNR program no longer reproduce and their nuisance behaviors, such as fighting, spraying and yowling, are dramatically reduced.

How does it work?

Who can participate in this program? CatsMart TNR is for anyone who has identified an un-owned, outdoor, free-roaming cat that needs to be spayed or neutered. This program is not for owned cats or stray cats that are being kept as pets. You do not need to live in Geauga County to participate in the program.

What are the fees and what is includedThe fee is $25 per cat. This includes the spay or neuter surgery, a 1-year Rabies vaccination, an FVRCP vaccination, and the left ear tip. Additionally, we offer an application of Revolution (flea & ear mite treatment) at an additional $5 per cat upon request. We also offer trap rentals if needed for a $65 deposit per trap, which is returned fully once the trap is returned in good condition.

The first step is to complete and submit an application. Once that is received we will be in touch when we are able to get you added to a surgery day. We only perform surgery once a week for this program so there may be a bit of a wait, but we try and add everyone as quickly as possible.
