For over 40 years Rescue Village has been dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation through spay and neuter and is the longest collaboration for cats and dogs. In 1984, Rescue Village established a spay-neuter fund to provide surgeries to pets as well as stray and feral cats. Twenty years later in 2004, Rescue Village worked alongside professionals to develop spay-neuter initiatives regionally.
Upon arriving at at the shelter each animal undergoes a medical exam followed by spay-neuter surgeries prior to adoption.
To help manage the free-roaming community cat population in Northeast Ohio, Rescue Village endorses a method known as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR addresses cat overpopulation where it starts–uncontrolled reproduction.
Through the TNR program, cats are humanely trapped and brought to Rescue Village once a week where they are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given a general medical exam. Then, cats are ear tipped, the universal sign for a spay-neutered outdoor cat. The cats are then returned to their outdoor homes.

In 1984 Rescue Village began answering the call to provide service to owned pets in Geauga County by creating a spay/neuter fund. Twenty years later, Rescue Village began collaborating with regional spay/neuter initiatives.
Rescue Village’s Fix-It-In-the-Farmland is a collaboration with PetFix Northeast Ohio. The program was implemented to address pet overpopulation for owned pets at an affordable rate to community members and their owned pets.
Fix-It-In-the-Farmland provides affordable spay and neuter services along with vaccines for cats and dogs in Northeast Ohio, with priority given to Geauga County residents. Apply today!
